The Story Behind Trade The MBI

TradeTheMBI, short for "Trade the Morgan Buy Indicator," originated in the 1990s when I first began developing indicator programs. The MBI was initially represented as a white candlestick, accompanied by the GAM (Gradient Algorithmic Multiplier) signal, which was displayed in yellow. These colors continue to signify bottom buy signals today, though they are now based on significantly more advanced mathematical analyses. My programming focuses on assigning specific colors to candlesticks at critical points, providing clear and intuitive visual signals for buying, selling, or holding. Unlike traditional candlestick charts, where red candles merely reflect a lower close than the open, my algorithms color candlesticks based on the presence of a downtrend or uptrend, regardless of price action. This ensures that the chart reflects more meaningful trend insights through its color coding.
